THROUGH THE CONVENTION CARD - Steve Linehan
Exploring treatments, duplicate tactics and conventions through a mini-lesson, you will learn how to fill out your convention card. You will play a short duplicate game, followed by analysis of a few hands. The fee is $8 per lesson, which includes a handout. Each on-going class stands alone, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays. 10 CONVENTIONS YOU SHOULD KNOW - Val Covalciuc
On Jan. 3rd Val resumes her Tuesday morning lesson-game by teaching a new convention or treatment each week through season. Even if you currently play the convention, you may want to know more. Each of these is a must for a player to advance your competitive skills. You will play a short duplicate game. The fee is $8 per lesson, which includes a handout. MORE COMMONLY USED CONVENTIONS - Rita Gilliland
Need to get up to speed on some of the more commonly used conventions? Know all about “double trouble” – one of the most flexible bids in bridge, allowing you to say something about your hand and still allow your partnership to defend or declare. The class incorporates pre-dealt hands as well as in-class exercises. The four-week class begins on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. Cost, including materials, is $60. Sign up at front counter.
BACK TO SCHOOL WORKSHOP (COLLEGE) - Val Covalciuc
Master the art of counting – both high cards and distribution – and find your bridge scores escalating. Work on high-level defense and good card combination techniques. Top it off with advanced play techniques. All this packed into 15 hours of fun learning on Jan. 13-15! You can sign up for individual sessions or take all five. BACK TO SCHOOL WORKSHOP (HIGH SCHOOL) - Val Covalciuc
Take this opportunity to understand your partner’s bidding! The first session goes through all the ways the partnership can explore to find the right contract. Then master the fine art of balancing and how it affects the meanings of bids. The final day is focused on declarer play and defense. Take more tricks; win more points. This workshop aimed at the intermediate player will be held on March 17-18. Cost for the four sessions, including lunches, is $115.
BEGINNING BRIDGE LESSONS - Rita Gilliland & Steve Linehan
